BLOOMINGTON – Alex Eckhoff, de Springfield, quase teve uma quinta-feira mágica quando terminou em segundo lugar no 95º ano Campeonato Amador do Estado de Illinois no Crestwick Country Club.
Eickhoff assumiu brevemente a liderança em nove buracos em sua quarta rodada, ficando com 1 abaixo do par. Charlie Culwin, do Chicago, terminou as duas rodadas na quinta-feira e terminou com 2 abaixo do par, 282. Ele foi o único jogador de golfe a terminar abaixo do par no torneio.
Eickhoff foi o jogador de golfe do ano para meninos de escola pequena do The State Journal-Register duas vezes durante sua carreira no ensino médio: uma vez como calouro em 2016-17 e novamente como veterano em 2019-20.
